Culture- Customs & Traditions:
- In China, a nod or bow is a traditional way to greet someone, or one might say 你好!(Hello!) or 你好吗? (How are you?).
- Formal introductions are preferred. One might call someone by their full name, or use the equivalents or Mr. and Mrs., but would never call someone by their family name (which comes first), and almost never by their given name.
- Most people will consider a guest quite rude if they show up more than a few minutes late to an event they were invited to.
- Tipping in restaurants is traditionally considered rude, not polite, as it is something a superior does to an inferior.
- Traditional Holidays in China are very important, the biggest include Chinese New Year and the Chinese Moon Festival.
